Toronto is getting a Russian tea room to rival New York City, and it’s located in the heart of Yorkville.
Since Sorelle and Co closed the doors of 161 Yorkville Ave in 2018, the space has remained vacant; until now. The Moscow Tea room is open, and you’ll want to make a reservation for your next stay in Toronto.
The Yorkville location is the second in Canada for the Moscow Tea room; its first is located in Byward Market, Ottawa. This location is famous for hosting high-profile guests such as Federal ministers, mayors, and entertainment industry moguls. The Yorkville location is expected to attract a similar clientele.
The Russian-style tea room offers an elevated menu of appetizers, seafood, and champagne, along with other delicacies like fresh oysters, Atlantic lobster, shrimp cocktail and salmon tartare. The Toronto location offers high tea services, dinner and a late-night menu.
Dreammind Group was responsible for the launch of this Toronto location, and their Director of Marketing, Ilon Tyan, boasts that “Yorkville is one of the most prestigious locations possibly in the country” and claims that it will be “a perfect home for this elegant and breathtaking concept.”
The tea room’s design is inspired by Russian opulence, art and adventure. It is sure to be both a culinary and visual experience for guests. Tyan claims you will feel “as if you have just stepped foot in a private salon of Russian royalty”. The interior is modelled after the original Russian Tea Room in New York City, first established in 1927 and renowned for its famous clientele.
